The methods we use to remove skin tags and other skin blemishes are Sterex Advanced Cosmetic Procedures and Cryopen.
The Advanced Cosmetic Procedures use electrolysis or diathermy. A small probe is positioned on the blemish or skin tag and a current is applied which cauterises and dehydrates the blemish, causing it to first reduce in size and then can be removed straight away. Sometimes a small scab will form which falls off within a few days. Many blemishes can be treated in one session, with larger areas sometimes requiring more than one session.
The treatment itself most people find tolerable with slight discomfort depending on the level of current required to eliminate the skin tag or blemish, but not painful. Thorough aftercare instructions including healing gel and powder are always provided, and unlike many other methods there should be no scarring.
The Cryopen uses nitrous oxide to deliver a quick and effective treatment to destroy the blemish. Treatment by freezing the intracellular fluid does not destroy healthy tissue and safely treats lesions on the face and body, sometimes requiring more than one session.
As with the Advanced Cosmetic Procedures, many different types of skin blemishes and lesions can be treated with this method and is often effective in treating pigmentation such as lentigo (sun spots).
The correct removal method and treatment plan will be tailored to your needs after a thorough consultation.
